Updated 09/25/06 Temporary-before archive/Club News 2006 05/22-26/06 National Safe Boating Week Congrats to Leaming's Marina & LVYC members for providing safety brochures to the community and potential new boaters. These items were provided by the National Safe Boating Council and Boat US; members delighted with the many questions presented, and some offered on board instruction. 05/28/06 Opening Day/Flag Raising/Wine & Cheese Celebration Thirty six members/friends attended our annual festivities. Not the usual number in view of graduations and weddings. But it was a grand affair with a mad hatter theme, with Muriel Clark & Grand Daughter Heather winning the first and second prizes provided by new member Russ Carlson of BeneServe. Diane Lynch (mother of Heather) provided a special prize, that was won by a non-member. Congrats! Commodore Russ Mehalick, R/C Bob Powell, and especially Fleet Captain Tom Leaming did an excellent job with set-ups and coordination. Of course the GM was Rita, along with all the other gals giving instructions. The array of foods and drinks exceeded expectation. Russ acted as Chaplain for the Memorial Services. Many thanks to all for your attendance, help and participation. 06/17/06 7th Annual Richard West (BeachWheels) Wheelchair Race Congrats to Commodore Russ Mehalick, V/C Bob Cummings, R/C Bob Powell and the 'Crew of the Bounty' for their volunteer help in making this event another great tribute to our charitable endeavors. A special note of thanks to Chris & Cele West, Shirely Phiefer, Walter Lott, and Bob & Bonnie Mayer for their participation and support. A grand THANK YOU to Rita Morgen for hosting a 'Thank You' BBQ. 07/08/06 July 4th 'Christmas in July' BBQ Celebration The Marina was decorated as though it was Christmas in December thanks to Commodore Russ Mehalick and the Crew of The Bounty. Thirty two members attended. Many thanks to Russ, Bob Cummings, and Rita for another great job. 07/28/06 Commodore Fluke Tournament Twenty members signed up. It was a hot and humid day with showers and late thunderstorms. We were able to complete the awards and BBQ prior to the thunder and under cover of the BBCA pavilion. A greatful thanks to the BBCA Executive Committee for the use of their beach. I am pleased to announce that Kevin Komovowski (age 12) a non-member won the grand cash prize with a 2.725 lb fluke 19". Second winner (with four keeper fluke) was Doris Regan, 2.190 lb, 17.50". Third runner (no prize) Joe LaPenna, 2.155 lb, 18.25". Many thanks Russ for BBQ'g the foods under those humid conditions; and a sincere thanks to the 21 participates that shared in the festivities. For the first time, there were no left-over foods. 08/05/05 Commodore Crab Contest Fifteen members signed up. It was a fun day for all. Lyle Clark won the grand pot of $100 for a 6.5 (point) crab and the most caught by a single crabber. The marina and club provided food and drinks for the participants. Great job Commodore (and helpers). A special note of thanks to Ray & Jane Kecmer for providing a 2nd prize award, presented to Bill Morgen "an old crab resides here." Love ya Ray & Jane" 09/02/06 Labor Day 'Sea Food Fest' I regret to advise that this event has been cancelled by reason of lack of participation. Hopefully we'll have a seafood inclusion at our Year End Dinner, scheduled for Saturday, October 7. This will be a catered affair at the Morgen property FOR MEMBERS ONLY. **************************************

This is a member only-adult affair. A small donation is required, with the club offsetting the balance of costs. This is our way of returning a portion of your dues monies. Reservations are required no later than September 30. Many thanks. Looking forward to a great time with friends. A grateful thanks to Rita, Walt, Shirely, Bob, Nancy, and Russ/Bob for their advice, prep & helping hands. A special note of thanks to the BBCA for the use of their club house & past beach facilities. ________________________________________________________________ 2005 Happy New Year. I hope the holidays and Santa were good to you. For those members and friends that lost loved one's in '04, or were hospitalized over the holidays, our 'get well wishes', sympathy and prayers were with you. The holidays were not a bundle of joy for this writer as we lost Board member and CBYCA/Delegate Bob Gattone; and my Mother in November. I recently learned of the passing of Founding Director/Historian Carl A. Mayer on January 23, 2005. Services were private (and confidential) per Carl's request. I lost a good friend and mentor. Our condolences to Helen and Family. As we enter the '05 season, we have some nice 'tentative' affairs scheduled. Please take a moment to review the schedule, and advise your comments or suggestions. 03/21/05

A low turnout, but understandable because of other family commitments. It was a great party. Rita & I, along with V/C Bob Cummings and his First Mate Nancy, normally coordinate these affairs. Rita & I were on vacation in Ocean City, MD. Russ and his crew, along with Lyle Clark (our chief chef and provider of crabs), and F/C Tom Leaming did an excellent job in making our party a memorable occasion. A special note of thanks to Bob & Nancy (that went out of their travel area) to pick up freshly picked corn. A gracious thank you to the ladies for their salads & delicious desserts. Many thanks. Words cannot express the club's appreciation. As this was our Labor Day general meeting and BBQ, with election nominations due by September 8, F/C Tom Leaming made a motion that "the current slate of Officers remain as-is". The motion was seconded and approved by all members. All Officers present agreed to serve and the members present re-elected the current Officers for the 2006-2007 term. They will be sworn in at the October Year End Dinner, to be held at the Thirsty Mallard, on October 9. Don't forget to mark your calender for Surf Fishing on October 1 with Commodore Russ in Beach Haven, LBI. 10/01/05 - Surf Fishing with Commodore It was a beautiful day on the 28th Street beach at Beach Haven, LBI. Six members and their guests enjoyed the hospitality of Russ and his friends. Although no large fish were caught, it was a beautiful Indian summer beach day with plenty of food and assorted ice cold brews. We started the day at 8 A.M. and retired at 3 P.M. Great job Russell. 10/09/05 - Year End Dinner/Installation of Officers
